  • John Okafor 'Mr Ibu' Loses His Son

    Actor and comedian, John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu, and his wife, Stella-Maris, have lost their two-year-old son, Emmanuel Mandela.

    Posts on some celebrity blogs on Tuesday indicated that the boy, who died on Monday night, had been ill for some days.



    According to sources reaching us, the actor confirmed that his son had been ill for four days.


    On his Facebook page, John Okafor (Mr Ibu), the actor wrote, R.I.P. Mandy, my son…Mummy and Daddy love you a lot but God loves you more.”

    The actor’s fans have, meanwhile, expressed shock on social media at the death of his son.

    On his Facebook page, there were over 254 comments as at 1p.m.

    The actor’s wife and son were kidnapped in January 2010 by unknown gunmen

    This is based on the agility she applies to her craft to dish out what she knows how to do best,which has untimately made her a celebrity to reckon with,but that is not the story for today.The one now is very disheartening if not unpalatable.

    Not too long ago, precisely August 28 2011, the actress was in the news, putting an end to a conflicting story which emanated at a scene on the he above mentioned date. But this time, it might definitely not be the best of time for the Kogi State born diva, Mercy Johnson as the news you are about to read may sound bizarre.

    Undoubtedly, Mercy Johnson is one of the best actresses in Nigeria who has carved a nitche for herself before her much publicized marriage to Edo-born prince, Odi, which might not even confuse one whenever she is being link to several scandals.

    According to the information, Mercy Johnson was said to have engaged in a combat on a movie location in Asaba Delta State, with a colleague whose name has not been revealed to us. The brawl, we gathered, made her to lose one of her eye balls in the ensuing gbosaa.

    Information from other sources however claimed that ever since the unfortunate incident, newly wedded Mercy Johnson has found herself pitiable in the unbelievable situation,as her family members have been running helter-skelter to ensure a surgical operation for her in London, so that the eye can at least return to a manageable state as the damage done to the right eye is very gory.

    On the heels of this, we placed repeated and anxious calls to Mercy to know the truth of the matter before going to press, but our efforts proved abortive as her phone kept ringing without response.

  • Jim Iyke dupes woman N15 million, threatens to kill her

    "Breaking News: Nollywood actor Jim Iyke is being accused of fraud."

    On Thursday, the actor, who was in the news recently for acquiring multi-million naira autos, was arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with N15 million fraud.
    According to the Police Prosecutor, Mr Chijoke Okezie, one Habiba Abubakar wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IG) to investigate the fraud. Read on....


    And during investigation, they discovered that the actor deceived Abubakar into acquiring 15 per cent equity shares to the tune of N15 million from his company, Untamed Records Ltd.

    The police said that Jim has admitted that the money was truly paid into his Oceanic Bank account No. 00500173691. And the police claimed that the money has since been used by the actor for personal matter instead of for the initial plans.

    The police also said that when Abubakar confronted the actor, he beat her up and threatened to kill her.

    Jim Iyke is now being charged with criminal breach of trust, criminal force, assault, cheating and criminal misappropriation which contravened sections 312,265,322 397 and 309 of the Penal Code.

    The actor pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    His lawyer, Esther Uzoma, made an oral bail application for the accused in pursuit of section 341(2) of the Criminal Procedural Code.

    She prayed the court to grant the accused bail on liberal terms and for self-recognition, and promised that the accused would not jump bail.

    Chief Magistrate Okeagu Azubike said that the bail application had merit and granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

    He ordered that the sureties must be responsible Nigerians who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

    He adjourned the case to the 9th of December 2011.

  • Sam Loco Efe: How he died, his unfulfilled dream

    The Late Sam Loco-EfeThe late Sam Loco Efe died apparently sitting on his seat in a hotel room of causes now suspected to be asthma. He was found dead on Sunday morning with ventolin inhalers beside him in the hotel room where he lodged. The room was forced open after he failed to come down after retiring the previous night.

    Contrary to reports that he was on location in Owerri, Imo State, Vanguard learnt, Monday, that he was actually in Owerri editing a yet untitled film produced by Bayelsa State born Favour Ogosi.

    Former Vice President, Actors Guild of Nigeria (South -East) and a close confidant of the deceased, Mr Steve Eboh, told Vanguard the events that led to the actor's death.


    He said: "On the night before his demise, he had, as usual, exchanged banter and jokes with friends and colleagues till about 11p.m. before retiring to his room.

    "But the next morning when he didn't come down for breakfast, worried colleagues went knocking on his door. Of course, they knew he was inside. And when no response came, they called me. I then advised that the hotel contact the police. And when the room was eventually opened, the cold body of Sam was found on a seat in the room.

    "And on the table and the floor, the police were alleged to have found a cannister or two of ventolin inhalers."

    Unfulfilled Dream

    Efe died without fulfilling the dream of taking a deserved rest at his Abakaliki, Ebonyi State farm house, Eboh said yesterday.

    "Because I was nominated for the City People Awards and couldn't go to see him in Owerri, he told me he would first stop over at Yenagoa and on today travel to his farm in Abakaliki, Ebonyi to wait for me. He said he was going to the farm house to rest and take a break from the rigours of film shooting and editing. That never happened because he died the next morning."

    Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, extended condolences to the family of the late actor.

    President Jonathan described the late actor as an accomplished artiste whose works helped to raise the dignity and style of the industry.

    Fashola on his part praised him for his unwavering commitment to his chosen profession despite the challenges he met.

    President Jonathan's condolence was conveyed through a press statement by Dr Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

    Gov. Fashola in his condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Akeem Bello, to the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Segun Arinze, described the deceased as an extraordinarily gifted thespian whose mastery of his craft on both stage and screen was unrivalled.
