Nollywood actress Stephanie Okereke plans to wed in France

by NMN (Staff) / 1,278 Views

There are strong indications that actress Stephanie Okereke may have concluded plans to wed her heartthrob, Linus Idahosa in far away France, next year.

HVP’s findings revealed that many of Steph’s friends have found it difficult to understand the choice of France for the white wedding. Some of them are said to have gone as far as linking up the plan to her hubby’s decision to have a quiet wedding away from the country.

Steph’s hubby, in a recent interview with a soft-sell entertainment magazine, hinted that they were going to wed abroad.

Presently, a top management staff of the Del-York Academy, Stephanie’s friends and colleagues in the movie industry are making frantic efforts to procure visas to France to enable them witness the much anticipated wedding. Until then, we will keep our fingers crossed.

“Mercy Johnson Is Not My Friend” – Tonto Dikeh say

by NMN (Staff) / 9,198 Views

The celebrated wedding of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has come and gone and the newlyweds are probably somewhere now having some “Us Time”.

However, shortly before the wedding the Actors Guild of Nigeria under the leadership of Segun Arinze appealed to all members to put up an appearance except it is unavoidably impossible. As obedient members, many actors and actresses who are friends and foes of MJ showed up at the wedding venue to celebrate with one of their own...

Amongst those not present at the event was Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde who was not in the country. But another A-list actress who was conspicuously absent at the event with no tenable excuse was Tonto Dikeh.

In a recent interview, Tonto said she did not attend the wedding because Mercy was not “her friend”. “You can’t just be a friend to everybody, it’s a normal thing and Mercy Johnson is not just my friend,” she said.

Probed further to see if her decision was based on a serious quarrel she had with MJ in the past? She responded; Even if I had, I had let go everything. It doesn’t really matter to me anymore.

Everybody is doing well, it’s just because we are not close, and we only did about two or three movies together. We have never been close friends”. Read more »

I didn't act nude - Tonto Dike speaks

by NMN (Staff) / 6,313 Views

You'll recall that Tonto Dike has been under virulent criticism for acting a “nude scene” in Dirty Secret. Many accuse her of debasing African culture while others said “… she was only being professional…”.

Tonto hasn't spoken on the whole saga but on Twitter last week, we got her respond to some questions and one major argument she put up was her being professional. According to her “…all I know is that I'm asked to interpret a character in a story and I do my best to achieve that. That is my job…”.

However, respected Nollywod actor, Charles Okafor thinks differently as he believes that “… lack of fear of God is responsible for such tendency among actors adding that when we overreach the barricade of decency, propriety, fear of God and decorum , actors hide behind the deceptive veneer of professionalism...may Nollywood not transmute to pornwood. You may wish to have Tonto call me…” he said.

But Tonto said she didn't act a nude scene . “Seriously Sam, of the over 30 movies I've been in, in how many did I act nude scenes? Maybe the question we should ask is, what is the universally accepted definition of a “nude scene”? I've never done a nude scene and I doubt the NFVCB would approve a movie with any lewd scene. All I know is I'm asked to interpret a character in a story and I do my best to achieve that. That is my job”, she said.
