We decided to feature this article (though not Nigerian-related) based on the fact that we all use social networking sites to keep in touch with friends both far and near. However, you may be surprised to hear this, but Facebook has a new movie
coming out on the 1st of October this year. It's a legend thing: a
sophomore at Harvard working out of his dorm room creates an Internet
sensation that makes him the youngest billionaire in history. And as
with any legend, there are many different ways the story can be told.
In this Photo: Mark Zuckerberg
It is clear that Facebook is the
world's largest social network with nearly 500 million
users around the world, up from 200 million in early 2009. Its policies,
more than those of any other company, are helping to define standards
for privacy in the Internet age.
This fall, a new film called "The Social Network"
will depict how Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook and the battles --
both legal and personal -- that sprang out of the site's unprecedented
success. In the just-released trailer, it shows Zuckerberg as an
outsider, looking to break into Harvard's elite inner circle. When he
launches his site, it's an instant success, but Zuckerberg is accused of
stealing the idea from fellow classmates. Zuckerberg gets a taste of
how big his creation could become when Napster co-founder Sean Parker
tells him, "A million dollars isn't cool. You know what's cool? A
billion dollars." But while his enterprise is challenged from the
outside, it's the growing divide between Zuckerberg and his closest
friend that threatens to ruin it all.
To preview the movie, watch the exclusive first trailer for "The Social
Network" below. Then keep reading to learn more about the movie and
what Zuckerberg has said about his on-screen depiction. Viewer
"The Social Network" is based on the book "The Accidental Billionaires"
Mezrich. Mezrich wrote the account of Facebook's origins without any
input from Zuckerberg. His primary source was Facebook's co-founder
Eduardo Saverin, who was the company's original business manager but
later had a legal dispute with Zuckerberg. Mezrich says he tried for a
year to get an interview with Zuckerberg, but never actually got to
speak to him.
The rights to turn the book into a film were sold before it was even
published. Aaron Sorkin,
the Emmy-winning creator of "The West Wing," was hired to write the
screenplay. Sorkin had no experience with Facebook prior to taking the
job, so he created his own page on the site to answer questions from
fans and get a first-hand look at how the online interactions worked. David
Fincher, the director of "Seven," "Fight Club" and "Zodiac," was
brought onboard to direct.
Though Shia LaBeouf and Michael Cera were reportedly in the running to
play the lead role of Zuckerberg, it was "Zombieland" star Jesse
Eisenberg who landed the job. In a surprising move, Justin Timberlake
won the part of Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who
became the president of Facebook. Special effects allow Armie Hammer
to play both Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the twins who accused
Zuckerberg of copying their ideas. And little-known English actor
Andrew Garfield was cast as Saverin. According to an online source,
Garfield's impressive turn in the film was the reason he recently
earned the role of Spider-Man in the upcoming series reboot.
With such a compelling story behind the film, and a stellar array of
talent involved in creating it, "The Social Network" has become one of
the most anticipated movies of the year. It will be the opening night
film of this year's New York Film Festival, and it's already receiving

After being out of public spotlight for close to four months, Nollywood hunk, Jim Iyke is back and this time around it is not with a lady alleging something or his publicist, Bigsam Media defending him. The ace actor is back with two movies in hand which he produced and partly directed.
Jim just signed up with a new management to further help him consolidate his rating as the most sought after actor in the clan. The first movie which is still undergoing post-production fine-tuning is titled Two Dollaz. It is a comedy flick with stars like Raffy from Ghana , Jim himself, Mercy Johnson, Ada Ameh, and many others. Jim and Mercy Johnson in a comedy we asked?
What started off like rumors initially, can now be
confirmed by HVP. Mercy Johnson is getting married and any moment from
now the screen queen will walk down the aisle with her heart throb in a
marriage many believe will be the most talked about in the movie
industry in recent times.
Mercy, we reliably gathered has fixed
the traditional wedding on her birthday 17th of August and efforts are
geared toward achieving this date. Our source however declined to make
further comment about the marriage
Meanwhile, the Chief
Executive Officer of Guinks Investment, one of the producers based in
Asaba, Mr. Uzo Godson Nwaosu has frowned at the frequent negative
reports against Mercy, describing such reports as
