The man who has gained the fame 'God Father' for starting what is now
widely known as Hip life over a decade ago is set to hit the movie
scene with his first movie, 'White is Black'.
This will not be the first time a musician has ventured into the movie world but with Reggie Rockstone, this is his first time and he will definitely like to make a major impact with that.
Shot at the sights and sounds of Accra and Elmina with the twist and turns of the modern world and African roots (Rastafarianism), 'White is Black' tells the story of love and the hidden truths of our identity.
It delves into the life of a young middle-aged broken hearted barrister, Amanda (Georgina Ahiable) after several attempts in her quest to find lasting love; she only ends up in the deeper and darker world of lies, treachery and exploitation from the cold hands of her man.
Out of anxiety, Amanda stumbles on someone she hopes will turn out to be her dream lover. Silky voice, smooth talker, unruffled, and sound pleasing at least from the phone.
The young man, Nathan (Reggie Rockstone) looks handsome, smart and collected as she expected, but no, that isn't what she had hoped for, a Rastafarian.
She walked out in the full glare of the public on the young handsome gentleman with rage and disappointment. Definitely one will be puzzled as to what happens next between them.
It is surprising to see Reggie Rockstone feature in a movie for the first time and even take up a much unknown role/character.
The movie, directed by Wilfred Stark Amedzro, is a collaboration between PRMD Consult and Flipside Studios. Apart from Reggie Rockstone and Georgina Ahiable, the movie also stars fresh acts like Louisa Buah, Lilian Larkai, Nana Kofi Obiri-Yeboah among others.
The director of the movie in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after the press preview of the movie at Rockstone's Office Tuesday, said the title of the movie holds a lot of suspense and movie lovers will definitely be thrilled by it.
He said the movie touches on controversy, the panoramic view we have about life and the fact that we must not lose our African identity.
He added that the movie teaches us to be knowledgeable but our cultural values must remain intact.
'White is Black' will be premiered on July 17 at the plush Promising Star hotel in Kumasi and on August 7 at the National Theatre.
